Fibroid Etc

Has anybody had problems after a hysterectomy that was supposed to be complete and it wasn't?

10 years ago i had really bad endometriosis, fibroid tumors etc. i had already had two children 1 boy and 1 girl so when i had the surgery to find out what was wrong we decided if it was really bad we would have a complete hysterectomy. 2 years later i had pain on my left side and had, they had to go back in because the surgeon left a ligament from my uterous in there and it attached to my bowel and kinked up. I had that repaired. Now for 2 years i have been having pain on my left side and went through all kinds of tests only to be told it has to be IBS. I had really bad pain last week went to the ER and they did a CT scan of my whole belly. Well apparently i have an ovarian cyst on a partial ovary that was left in there. My current dr. is freaking out and i have to have surgery to have this fixed. My current dr. suggest i get a lawyer because this shouldn't have happened and as i said i've been through hell for 2 years trying to figure out what is wrong? has this happened 2U

I was in a similar situation - though my hysterectomy wasnt intended to be complete initially. I had it for the same reasons that you did - severe endometriosis etc. I also had "ovarian regeneration syndrome" - left ovary tried to come back! And in the process, it grew a cantalope sized tumor & other stuff. Had to have emergency surgery too. I also have severe adhesions due to abdominal surgeries and recurring endometriosis (even though my hyst was 16 years ago). It will ALWAYS come back - 6-10 years is average for a Doc to have to go back in & remove the adhesions. So... it IS possible that you are having recurring disease process. It is a very distressing, painful ordeal.
As far as seeing legal counsel - it wont hurt! I have found though that it is VERY hard to get one Dr. to "turn" on another & testify that the sole reason you are having issues is due to another Doc's error.
Definitely get a GOOD doc who will take good care of you & clean up the adhesions etc - and just stay in tune with your body. Check into legal counsel - look for someone who specializes in Medical Malpractice.
Good luck!!!
