Biopsy of Uterus (for Uterine fibroid) and its effect on Hymen?
Hi, I have been diagnosed with Uterine fibroid 3 months back. But lately I started getting hair fall and my skin color started becoming dark. So my doctor doubted that my fibroid would be cancerous. For that she asked me to undergo a biopsy. And last week I did. But now one of my friends said that if we do a biopsy like that the hymen would be broken and because of which i will not bleed the first time I have sex.
I am virgin til now.
Is this true? Please let me know.....
It depends how the biopsy was performed- was it a keyhole surgery through the naval? If so, then the hymen won't have been disturbed- it is over the opening of the vagina. So unless they did the biopsy by inserting the instrument through the vagina, the hymen should still be intact. And anyway if they did go through the , they should have been gentle enough that the hymen stretched enough to accomodate their invasiveness.
You should discuss it with your doctor though, if you are concerned.
