Fibroid Size Of Grapefruit
Uterine fibroid tumor and pregnancy?
A girlfriend of mine is six weeks pregnant, and was told last week that she has a large uterine fibroid tumor (about the size of a grapefruit). She's decided against terminating the pregnancy, and the tumor is expected to continue growing - gestationally speaking, it will be as though she is carrying twins.
She is under a doctor's care, but the point in asking this question is to fill in the gaps in my own understanding (she and I haven't been able to speak at length about this since she found out). Women who have had uterine fibroids, while pregnant or otherwise, please share your experiences...I would like to gain a better understanding for what she will be facing!

I have a fibroid and I'm 29 weeks pregnant. The only thing that bothers me about my fibroid is when the baby kicks at it or lays on it. But at this time the baby is taking the blood supply from the fibroid and it's shrinking/dying away. My friend had 17 fibroid and she is 24 weeks pregnant at this time. She will be fine. Just have them remove if after she has the baby if it doesn't shrink.
