Fibroids In Uterus During Pregnancy

Fibroids during pregnancy?

I am 3 months pregnant and just had my 12 week scan
the baby is doing well, but they detected a large fibroid outside my uterus which is why I believe I am showing so much and getting slight discomfort, the doctor has advised that it is common during pregnancy for some people. and they will keep and eye on it. I am worried about the future well being of my baby and also complications latter in the pregnancy can any one advise me as this is my first pregnancy and I’m not sure what to expect. I’ve heard allot of negative talk about having c sections and premature babys due to having fibroids, is this true and is there anything that can be done to prevent these problems from happening

Hun, I have fibroids and am in my first pregnancy too! There are three types of fibroids; inside the uterus, outside the uterus or inside the wall of the uterus.

Fibroids - What are Fibroids and How to Treat Fibroid Tumors

It's normal for a woman to experience pain in their abdomen from time to time. This pain can be a part of the menstrual cycle but can also be a red flag when something serious is happening inside of the uterus. For women who have uterine fibroids (also called a fibroid tumor) the pain can be off the charts. As reported by the Mayo Clinic, the warning signs of a uterine fibroid can be: sharp pains in the abdomen, heavy bleeding during your period, and infertility. Though they are also called fibroid tumors, they are benign, non-cancerous growths inside the uterine tissue and it is rare if they develop into cancer.

Small fibroids generally cause few problems and, in fact, many women never know they have them. Unfortunately, for women who do not treat fibroids, they can develop into larger fibroids in uterus. The following symptoms are major warning signs:

  • Extended menstruation (7 days or more)
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Painful pelvic area or pressure (a feeling that the uterus is "full")
  • The urge to urinate often
  • Bladder inability to empty
  • Constipation
  • Aches in the legs or back
  • Pain during sex

Rarely, a fibroid can become so large that it gets too big for its blood supply and thus begins to die. This can bring on fever and extreme pain as the toxins from the dead tissues seep into the surrounding areas (Mayo Clinic site, October 17, 2009). A fibroid that has become "detached" from the uterus and is dangling by a single, thin piece of tissue can sometimes get twisted; this can actually cut off blood supply to it and bring on pain as it is twisting. See your doctor immediately if you have bladder or bowel symptoms or if bleeding is uncontrollable with normal sanitary products.

Crucial to the treatment of fibroids is intervention early on. Herbal alternative treatments can be extremely effective when trying to shrink fibroids, fibroid cysts, the treatment of PCOS, lessening heavy periods, and other problematic uterine growths. If your fibroids are not causing serious problems as listed above, why not try alternative treatments such as natural herbs that can help shrink them? Alternative treatments can be a true blessing to surgical treatment when started in the early stages of a fibroid growth.
