Is Fibroids Painful
painful pelvic exam?
Every time I try to get a pelvic exam/pap smear, the doctor can't do it because it hurts me so bad that I cry and scream and I almost threw up last time. I've only had one successful exam while awake. The other one I had was under anesthesia at a hospital, and I almost died because my lungs closed up from the anestesia. (Long story) Anyways, my husband and I are thinking of babies, but I need to get an exam first because my painful cramps may mean fibroids or even cancer. Hypnotherapy would be great, but it's 150bucks. Has anyone ever had this problem? I don't know where to go because doctors don't understand and I am tired of feeling like I am being ripped apart 'down there' everytime I try to get an exam. Any suggestions?
Yes, there are other issues, and the part that is painful is when they try to insert the speculum. It is like a burning ripping feeling.
It's extremely painful for me as well, but on main key is try to relax. You may ask your doctor to give you a muscle relaxer before the exam is done. Some will and some won't give you one. But other than that, just bit hard on something so they can do the exam.
