Abnormal menstruation after Depo Provera?

I've been off Depo Provera for just over 3 years now, after having been on for 5 years and my monthly cycle still has not returned to "normal." A year and a half after I stopped getting injections I didn't have a period. Then after that I maybe got a long period *2 or 3 weeks long* every 2-4 months, not regular still. Now 3 years later I get a period every other month or so, never with regularity and my OBGYN refuses to put me on another birth control method until my period is normalised somewhat.

I'm worried I might have uterine fibroids because my cycle is so wonky. Any nurses out there could weigh in on my situation please?

A second opinion from another OBGYN might ease your mind. If yours isn't willing to explain and take time to inform you then I would see another dr.
Depo shots are known to cause certain side effects and abnormal periods.

I'm not a nurse but have been thur the effects of the Depo shot.
