Risk Factors Fibroids

Is HSG a test that fertility docs routinely order for ttc?

I've been on Clomid 50mg for 4 months. Husband has been checked out. I have a bunch of risk factors (age, past bouts of serious endo that wiped out one of my ovaries, fibroids, ovarian cysts).

My doc (an OB/GYN, not a fertility endocrinologist) has not recommended an HSG. Should she have? Is this one of the basic fertility tests? Can they tell anything about the condition of your tubes with the ultrasound they use to check follicle size/uterus lining?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I think I'm ovulating on the Clomid. I'm getting at least two nice big follicles (25mm to 30mm+) every month, and 36 hours after the HCG shot, I get a nice big TWINGE in my good ovary. (I can't tell from the mucus what's going on -- I'm just relying on the physical pain.) :-)
PS - you guys are SO kind. Thanks for the support. It's day 28 today, my boobs are hurting, and I'm not feeling optimistic.

An HSG is an excellent basic fertility test right alongside bloodwork. I have heard of many women who have small blockages in their tubes that get basically power-washed out by the force of the ink-dye being sent thru your tubes. So basically this test can be used two ways, it can show the doctor if you have any irregularities in your uterus or tubes AND at the same time clean you out. They do say that the three months or so after an HSG are your most fertile because well i hate to say it but think of it like when you put Drano into a pipe...all clear! :) I could see why your OBGYN would not recommend an HSG because sad to say many OBGYN's are not very involved in the inferitlity side of the field. My own OBGYN told me to "relax" and to wait another 6 months after a year of trying with no result. Turns out I had PCOS. :( I tend to not put alot of stock in what OBGYN's have to say about fertility in that regard. Always better off seeing a specialist like an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). The ultrasounds are good to see things ont he surface, but to get down deep you would either need the HSG or surgery (trust me the HSG is the less invasive. Painful, but less invasive).
Good luck and if I were you I would DEFINITELY get one. Even just for piece of mind because how terrible would it be if you kept trying only to have a small blockage in your tubes causing your month after month of TTC hearbreak?
Babydust to you!!!
