Painful irregular Periods want to get Pregnant?

I've had painful irregular periods since age 9. My doctor suggested a laparotomy to check for ENDO and found huge fibroids instead. I had an operation to remove the fibroids in 2004. My periods never really stopped being painful. I've attempted to get pregnant the old fashioned way but when I stopped the pill my period stopped. When it came back It went on for almost 41 days. I had to be put on hormonal treatment and that made me sick. I'm now 36 and so tired of pain and all that comes with it. I've been told the fibroids are back and will continue unless I get pregnant which doesnt appear to be easy in my case either. I've done the shot in hopes of stopping the period process, my period didnt stop for weeks and I spotted for months. What do I do about this demon period!! I fear a hysterectomy is close if I cant find help. Please give advice

If you're trying to get pregnant, discuss with your doctor about whether you are still ovulating or not (you should be). Discuss with him/her physical signs like mucous patterns and body temperature to tell whether you're ovulating or not; use this information to your advantage and try to have sex on those days that you are ovulating; you'll have a better chance of conceiving.

As for what to do about your painful, irregular periods, I'm uncertain what to tell you if you've already discussed options with your doctor. Maybe a visit to an endocrinologist is in order? They will check your hormone levels and other things that a normal gynecologist may not look very carefully at. It's a bit of a long shot, but it may be worth it!
