How urgently do I need to get ultrasound for cysts and fibroid tumors?

My first post-partum period finally came and I was having to change a super tampon and pad every 45 minutes, so they made me go the ER. I wasn't anemic and they couldn't find a cause, so they said I need to get the ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts or uterine fibroid tumors. My OB from my pregnancy called me and said to just make the appointment with her, but her first availability isn't until 8/25. I am still bleeding very heavily, though not as bad as two days ago. Do I need to be seen sooner or is it OK to wait that long?
