Ufe Fibroids
ufe or myoectomy? which do i choose?
im a 34 year old married woman that has just been diagnosed with unterin fibroids. i really want to have children in the future. they told me that they were no in the middle and that they were in the unterin wall, i do not have heavy periods because of this and that is a good thing. they told me the unterine fibriod emobilization is non evasive but there is no study to support its effect on fertility. the myoctiomy they state is a good choice if you wish to have children, but i might have alot of blood loss and scar tissue. has anyone had the ufe and got pregnant later? is there any websites or support groups for this?
i want the ufe, but i dont know how risky it is for my fertility. any info on anything would help

If you want kids definitely do not have the UFE (uterine fibroid embolization). UFE can be risky as well and it's not recommended for women who want kids. A myomectomy is the only thing I have heard of for women who want kids. I'd get more than one opinion though. If you have it done laproscopically please please look into the doctors history and get a good recomendation. I just saw this post earlier and please do not chose a doctor because the doctor is a female. With UFE I think a radiologist does it and injects a dye into the uterus. Not sure if it works and multiple pictures with MRI's are needed in order to see if it worked or not. I would want to know if the fibroids have prevented you from becoming pregnant. If you've tried to become pregnant and haven't and it's because of the fibroids I'd get another opinion. Fibroids are usually harmless and only cause for concern if infertility is an issue or there's lots of bleeding or pain.

I was personally given the choice for UAE uterine artery embolization but because it was a situation where it wasn't guaranteed that it would work and I had possible adenomyosis (endometriosis in the uterine muscle) where it wouldn't work for that, I opted for a total vaginal hysterectomy keeping both ovaries. It was major surgery but I don't regret it one bit. Oh the UAE cost just as much as a hysterectomy, I could have been in the same amount of pain, still having trouble with bleeding, and would may have had a hard time getting it covered by insurance because at the time it was experimental. I wasn't willing to wait a year to see if UAE worked for me and then decide to go for the hysterectomy if it didn't work. I can definitely say to not go for UFE if you want kids because although it was recommended I use birth control if I was going for UAE it definitely said it's not for women who want to have kids. So I would find a good doctor and do your research on the recovery. As far as I know a myomectomy is kind of major surgery too which is why you need a good qualified doctor.
