When To Have Fibroids Removed
What is the next step? What to expect from Fertility Doctor Visit?

Have been TTC for a while now. Within the last two years have had a HSG, laparoscapy/hysterocapy & D&C. Everything is coming back normal. I did have some endometriosis and fibroids removed (jan). Been using OPKs and it appears i ovulate everymonth. Still haven't had any success.

When i go to the fertility specialist am I going to have to start over with all the tests? I don't have a huge budget. Probably can afford a few attempts at IUI. Insurance does not cover infertility treatments (except clomid)

Your fertility specialist should be able to get the results of any previous testing you've had, so you shouldn't need to re-test, though they may want to check to make sure the endo and fibroids haven't returned. Have you had your blood levels checked to rule out hormonal imbalance? I had a bunch of blood drawn at my first RE appointment. My husband also had to do a semen analysis (even though he'd already done one), and I had an ultrasound to look at my ovaries (I was diagnosed with PCOS that way).

Other things the fertility specialist did on our first visit was go through all of the test results and our medical histories in detail and we talked through possible diagnoses and treatment options. We ended up doing clomid + IUI, but I had already done 4 rounds of clomid alone prior to that. Keep in mind that IUIs have a lower success rate than IVF and some fertility specialists will recommend going straight to IVF because they feel it's more cost-effective. Make sure you listen to what the doctor's opinion is, and their recommendations, but don't be afraid to state your wishes with respect to how far you want to go in the treatment.
