Womb Fibroids Symptoms
Could my symptoms be fibroids?
Have started getting periods that last up to two weeks, feel like I need to pee a lot but it doesnt hurt like if I had a urine infection, I get womb pain off and on even when period not due, I feel tired all the time even if I have had a full nights sleep. This has only started in the past few months and Im a bit worried. Oh and Im not pregnant.
Also if it was fibroids, would this affect my ability to get pregnant in the future and how do you find out you have it. Do you have to get a scan or something?
I am 28 yrs old.
It can, but although you have the symptoms...
(The most common symptom of fibroids is heavy menstrual bleeding. Other symptoms include abdominal pain or pressure, changes in bladder and bowel patterns)
...without examining you nobody can say yes or no. If you have most people conceive and carry pregnancies without any trouble.
Fibroids are thought to account for about two to three per cent of all infertility.
Go and talk to your doctor who, if necessary will refer you to a gynaecologist.
Doctors can often detect fibroids during a pelvic examination. Doctors also use other procedures to examine the uterus and confirm the diagnosis:
*Transvaginal ultrasonography: An ultrasound device is inserted into the vagina.
*Saline infusion sonohysterography: Ultrasonography is done after a small amount of fluid is infused into the uterus to outline its interior.
Sometimes magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is also done. Occasionally, additional tests are necessary.
